A second copy of the same letter usually produces a second copy of the same answer. * The description of the reinvestigation procedure is worth requesting on its own. What comes back — or does not — tells you a great deal about whether anything actually happened. * Keep the verification response. An item that a bureau was told about and left in place is a materially different situation from one nobody has looked at, and the response letter is the proof of that. * If you have not already disputed directly with the furnisher, do that now. * A dispute that fails after you have documented it properly is the point at which people commonly bring the question to a lawyer.
